My love of photography started early. My Dad was a keen amateur photographer and really inspired me as well as teaching me a lot of the basics. As a child I loved watching photos emerge from the murky depths of the developing solution in his dark room.

Although I'm happy photographing any subject, people are my favourite. I love being able to capture a personality in a single click. I enjoy getting to know my clients before a shoot. The more relaxed they are, the easier it is to get a great shot. Those who know me, including my wife, tell me I'm laid back and fun… if a little unorthodox!

Our name

Melen is the Cornish word for "yellow". I chose the name to reflect my Cornish ancestry and my love of Kernow.
